DESCRIPTION:March in the Bear Gallery: Up With Art\n\nExhibition on View: March 1-28 during National Youth Art Month\n\nFirst Friday opening reception\, Friday March 1st\, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.\n\nGrades 6-8 award ceremony\, Friday March 1st at 5:30 p.m. \n\nGrades 9-12 award ceremony\, Friday March 1st at 6:30 p.m. \n\nGrades K-5 reception and award ceremony\, Sunday March 3rd from 2-3 p.m.\n\nThe Bear Gallery is located on the third floor of the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts building in Pioneer Park at 2300 Airport Way\, Fairbanks\, Alaska.\n\nDon't miss this beautiful and vibrant annual show that Fairbanks Arts and the community look forward to during Youth Art Month each year!\n\nArt is key to a complete education and is a powerful vehicle for expression\, exploration\, and skill-building  Fairbanks Arts is proud to present the Up With Art student art exhibition in partnership with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD). K 12 grade students enrolled in an FNSBSD-affiliated institution were invited to submit one piece of art made at home or in school to the Up With Art student art exhibition!\n\nWe are excited to announce this year's Jurors:\n\nMeredith Maple-Children's Museum Director and FNSBSD School Board Member\n\n\n\nRobin Child-Artist\, professor at UAF\, board member on AAEC \n\nSavannah Fletcher-FNSB Assembly Member\, Candidate for FNSB Mayor\n\nMaite Agopian-Puppeteer and education specialist\n\nAmy Edler-Maker and sewist \n\nFairbanks Arts asked K-5 students to create artwork inspired by the categories of Imagination\, Stories\, and Connection.\n\nGrades 6-8 students were asked to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces with the chance to win Best of Show\, 2nd Place\, or 3rd Place in each category.\n\nGrades 9-12 students were asked to submit two-dimensional and three-dimensional works with a chance to win Best of Show for each category as well as an opportunity to win First\, Second\, Third place\, and Honorable Mentions in media-based categories. \n\nCategories include: drawing\, painting\, printmaking\, photography\, digital and graphic arts\, ceramics\, sculpture\, jewelry\, mixed media\, and Native arts.  \n\nThis event is free and open to the public\, thanks to our generous donors and sponsors.
