Art from the End of the Earth: Snow, Bergs and Penguins. First Friday show

Fairbanks watercolorist Deb Horner (deborah-horner.artistwebsites.com) will exhibit new works from her recent trip to Antarctica. Her route followed that of famed explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, including the Falklands, South Georgia Island, and the Antarctic Peninsula. Both land and seascapes, including icebergs, snow-covered mountain ranges, and vast vistas are part of the show. And of course that icon of the southern seas, penguins! 6 pm – artist’s presentation “Sketching in Sketchy Places”. Come to hear about doing art while sailing the southern oceans! Whether on the icy deck of the Russian research ship, “Akademik Ioffe”, or a beach with hundreds of southern elephant seals, sketching on site at the end of the earth can get sketchy. Under 21 are welcome with parent or guardian.
