• Starting in 2019, the introduction of two squadrons of F-35A fighter jets at Eielson Air Force Base is expected to bring approximately 3,500 new residents to the Fairbanks North Star Borough; military construction spending at EAFB has already started and will total over $500 million over the course of the next few years.
• The Fairbanks North Star Borough is planning for Eielson regional growth.
• Through information gathering, analyzing and sharing, the FNSB’s Eielson Regional Growth Plan will help community leaders, residents and businesses:
• Learn more about the potential impacts of 3,500 new residents on the borough through a gap analysis of existing and needed resources, including businesses.• Identify recommendations for how to strategically address resource gaps, and leverage opportunities, toward the long-term benefit of all FNSB residents.
• The FNSB business community’s growth and success is vital to the economic resiliency of the borough. How can the business community best position itself to meet current and future resident needs? How can the business community position themselves to benefit from the anticipated demand for additional goods and services? At the luncheon, the project team will share NEW DATA and request business community input on preliminary projections and resources gaps, including potential business, economic development, and workforce development needs and opportunities.
