Former Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski has been a part of Alaskan politics and growth since the pipeline era.  He served as Alaska's US Senator from 1981 to 2002.  He served as chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee from 1995 until 2001. As Alaska's governor from 2002 to 2006, he championed continued exploration and development of Alaskan oil and gas.
