Membership Meeting

Robert Leach, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Fairbanks Community Cooperative Market has called a SPECIAL MEETING OF MEMBER-OWNERS for Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 6:30 pm.

As many of you know, Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) has generously submitted a grant proposal to the USDA for a Rural Economic Development Grant of $300,000 that will form a revolving loan fund for the community of Fairbanks.

GVEA plans to match the grant with $60,000 from its unclaimed capital credit fund. Co-op Market will be the first recipient of a loan from this grant, which is an important component of our financing plan for opening the store. We recently learned that USDA requires proof that Co-op Market operates as a not-for-profit entity. This requires a statement about our corporate status in our by-laws.

The sole purpose of this special meeting will be to vote on additions to our bylaws.
