Award winning authors Karen Button & Katey Schultz will present a FREE lecture of their works in non-fiction journalism & short-story fiction at The Literacy Council of Alaska?s Forget-Me-Not Books, 7PM Monday, August 30th. Their writing connects with the theme of the on-going wars in Iraq & Afghanistan & shares a very human side of combat. Each author will speak for 20 minutes & will follow with a question & answer session. Audience members can expect ?vivid, informed, emotional storytelling that explores various perspectives.?
Karen Button is a freelance writer and photographer from Alaska who has reported on the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, with a focus on Iraqi civilians and the ensuing diaspora. Karen?s work has been published in Turkey, Italy, Egypt, New Zealand and the U.S. at news sites that include: WorldBulletinNews, IslamOnline, InformationClearningHouse, GlobalResearch and Scoop. Katey Schultz is the author of Lost Crossing, a chapbook of contemplative essays and Associate Editor of TRACHODON, a dinosaur of a little magazine.
